Shining Stars

Here is a song, based on a short quote I thought of while making a nice background for my computer. The background turned out great, but I thought the quote could use a little elaboration, so I made it into a song.

I was there, when it all began.
I watched as the sun set.
I stood beside you, and fought.
Among the moons we watched the sun cough and die.
I was there, in deepest shadows.
I watched the moons leave.
I stood beside you, and fought.
Among the clouds we watched the moons shatter.
I am here, in a night without end.
I stare up into a universe of lights.
I stand beside you, and we'll fight.
For the billions of stars that are left.
Don't you see, don't you see them shine?
They shine brighter, brighter than ever before.
They shine for you, they shine for me,
They shine down upon this lone planet,
and sing still a song of hope.
Won't you see, won't you see us shine?
Let's shine brighter, brighter than ever before.
Let's shine for you, let's shine for me,
Let's shine down upon this lone planet,
and sing still a song of hope.
Somewhere a star is born.
Somewhere moons are caught.
The death of all we knew,
is just the start of something new.
Let's start over, let's start something new.
Let's shine for you, let's shine for me,
let's shine down upon this lone planet,
and sing now a song of hope.

That's the song. I think it tells the story well enough. Beings, fighting for life, and light, fought through the heartbreak of losing their sun, then the moons (I think in their lands, the moons still glowed at night magically after the sun died). Even after they lost those symbols of light and life that were the brightest in their sky, and indeed, the source of their 'day', they choose to keep fighting against the odds to save the rest of the stars in the sky above. I think it is a great and noble sense of what we should all dare to live like. Let's shine, and sing a song of hope.
