Recreating the End of the World

How certain are we that life as we know it, humankind as we know it, is all going to end within a generation or two?

Well, if our governments, secret societies, and religious organizations are certain of it, should we be?  What if they are plotting the 'end of the world' but plan on it being more like a fake, they control it, and then poof, they run the 'new world' with all the people they miraculously 'save'.

Perhaps that's when the real trouble begins?  Maybe that's when the universe reminds them they don't have full control of every factor, every possible entity and force within the known and unknown universe?

But what if we have the power to make this go relatively smoothly for almost everyone?  I mean almost complete pain and suffering free for those who are innocently slaughtered for the evil will of others?

I guess another question might be, which side will you be on?  Will you stand with the billions who get murdered by governments and their 'faithful'?  Or with the governments, convincing yourself that the other people are 'the problem' holding back the wonderful future of the world and its much smaller population?

Another question to ask is this one, whose end of the world scenario will we all be a part of?  Or will some of it seem like something everyone expects, and other parts more like nothing we ever imagined?

Whatever happens, I plan to stick close to as many people that I care for, and want to help, as possible.  Especially my family, my wife, mom, and brother.  Those of us that live that long.  Although, I'd rather live a very long time, hundreds of years, and find out that in the end, the governments only tried to make it happen, but the people weren't going for it, and it didn't play out the way it was supposed to.  More like popped and then fizzled out in a pathetic excuse for an end of the world attempt, and the vast majority of people started building new civilizations and lives for themselves.  Everyone is allowed to dream.
